Dona Maria Julios Bastos Petit Verdot 2016
“The 2016 Petit Verdot was aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Dona Maria has become a gold-star source for Petit Verdot in Alentejo. The wines have become excellent, and the price is very right. They are super bargains as well as fine wines” Mark Squires from Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Grape Varieties: 50% Alicante Bouschet (from 60+-year-old vines in Estremoz), 25% Syrah, 15% Petit Verdot and 10% Touriga Nacional
Tasting Notes: Ruby colour. Refined aroma, with ripe fruit, restrained and sober, keeping record of elegance and good toasted. The palate is refined and modest tannins, acidity but more discreet enough to grace the final persistence.
